Frequently asked questions
How long does installation take?
Most front door installations are completed within a few hours, meaning there’s very little disruption to your day. Our team removes your old door, prepares the opening, installs the new frame and door, and carries out all finishing touches in one visit. We always work efficiently but carefully, ensuring everything is aligned, sealed and operating smoothly before we leave. In the rare case where additional work is needed — such as repairing an old frame or adjusting brickwork — we’ll let you know in advance so you’re never left guessing.
Will my new door improve energy efficiency?
Yes — upgrading to a modern uPVC or composite front door can make a noticeable difference to the warmth and comfort of your home. Composite doors, in particular, feature dense insulated cores, high‑performance weather seals, and multi‑layered construction that help prevent heat escaping through your entranceway. This means fewer draughts, a warmer hallway, and potentially lower heating bills over time. Many homeowners in York choose composite doors specifically for their excellent thermal performance, especially in older properties where insulation can be a challenge.
Can I choose my own colour and glass?
Absolutely. Every front door we supply is fully customisable, allowing you to create a design that suits your home perfectly. You can choose from:
-
A wide range of colours, including traditional whites, woodgrain finishes, heritage greens, and bold contemporary shades
-
Decorative, frosted, or clear glazing
-
Modern or traditional hardware such as handles, knockers, hinges and letterplates
Whether you want a classic cottage look or a sleek modern entrance, we’ll help you design a door that complements your property and reflects your personal style.
